Nov. 4 staff meeting recap

Human Resources and President Marc Conner offered important updates about College initiatives at the staff meeting on Friday, Nov. 4.

Julie Delay, director of human resources, welcomed 13 new employees to the College and reminded employees about benefits open enrollment, which continues through Friday, Nov. 18. She also encouraged employees to participate in the “No Gain, Maintain Holiday Challenge.” The wellness program, which was detailed in an email on Nov. 8, encourages employees to maintain their weight during the holidays.

President Conner shared information about the Strategic Action Agenda for 2022-23, which was endorsed by the Institutional Policy and Planning Committee on Oct. 7. The Strategic Planning Committee of the Board of Trustees also reviewed the document during its Oct. 13 meeting. Priorities are Skidmore’s Racial Justice Initiative; vice presidential searches; major capital projects following the recent drafting of Skidmore’s Campus Master Plan; discussion about the values and visions that underlie Skidmore, and speech and expression.

President Conner also offered updates on the October meeting of Skidmore’s Board of Trustees. The Board agreed to move forward with preliminary steps toward constructing a new health and wellness center along with new indoor and outdoor tennis courts. The president invited all members of the Skidmore community to participate in an all-campus forum on Nov. 30 that will offer more information about this ambitious and important initiative.

President Conner and administrators also answered questions on a variety of topics.

The next staff meeting will take place on Friday, Dec. 2. Agendas can be found on the HR website. Staff are also invited to suggest topics or agenda items by submitting this form
