Art History cultivates observation, critical thinking, and communication skills that are applicable to many kinds of careers, including business, law, media, medicine, museum work, and more. Our majors combine a wide range of academic and co-curriculum interests while at Skidmore, then pursue diverse professional opportunities after graduation.

RECENT NEWS FROM ART HISTORY GRADUATES
(in chronological order from former graduates to more recent graduates)
After graduating from Skidmore in 2009, Deanie Hoxter Levine worked for Artnet as a Senior Client Services Representative and for Acadaca (NYC), an ecommerce systems integrator, in various roles from Project Manager, to Senior Project Manager, to Corporate Communications Manager. Since then she has been working for Shutterstock, and its subsidiary Pond5, in a variety of positions culminating recently in Chief of Staff to the Chief Product and Digital Officer, Shutterstock.
Gaelle Mourre(’11) earned a Master’s degree in Writing, Producing, and Directing from the London Film School and has extensive experience writing, directing, and producing film, TV, and material for the immersive sector. Her (Hi)Story of a Painting: What’s the Point? (the first episode in an animated VR and 360 series) is being distributed nationwide with StoryFutures Academy’s “StoryFutures Xperience,” while her second episode, (Hi)Story of a Painting: The Light in the Shadow, won Special Jury Recognition Immersive Storytelling at SXSW, 2022.
After working in the optical field for five years, including at Warby Parker and Rochester Optical, Julia Sibley(’12) joined the Rochester, NY, advertising agency Partners + Napier, where she recently became Director of Agency Experience. The agency’s sex-positive cannabis product launch won silver at the 2023 Jay Chiat Awards.
While completing a number of internships related to historical documents and archival work at The University of Virginia, The Jewish Theological Seminary (NYC), Columbia University, and while working for the Center for Jewish History (NYC), Sara Belasco(’14) earned a Master’s of Library and Information Science (MLIS) in Rare Books and Special Collections at Pratt Institute (NYC). Sara recently started a new position as Assistant Professor, Cataloging and Metadata Librarian at the Fashion Institute of Technology (NYC).
Jessica Rebarber (’17) is a Strategic Communications Specialist (Associate) at Booz Allen Hamilton (D.C.),
supporting Federal Government programs through digital communications strategies.
After graduating Skidmore, she earned an MA in Strategic Communication from American
University. As a Skidmore student, she studied abroad in Spain, where she interned
as a painter in the Madrid studio of the Cuban artist collective Los Carpinteros.
Hannah Traore (’17), founder of the Hannah Traore Gallery (NYC), which is an inclusive space dedicated
to nurturing those from marginalized communities, was included in the 2023 Forbes’s
30 Under 30 Art and Style list. A recent exhibit of the Pakistani artist Misha Japanwala’s
work at the gallery was reviewed in the Guardian and the New York Times.
After graduating from Skidmore in 2018, Karabo Mosola worked as Executive Assistant for the WorldFest: Houston International Film Festival, as an intern at DHD Architecture (NYC), and at Trader Joe’s (TX) before recently beginning the graduate program in Architecture at the University of California, Berkeley.
After working at the Shelburne Museum for four years, including as Public Programs Associate, Assistant Director of Education, and DEAI Coordinator, Monica Andrews(’19) is now working on her Master’s in Education at Harvard University where she is also a Graduate Student Teacher. In 2021, Monica was awarded the New England Museum Association Fellow, which has led to publications in New England Museums Now. Additionally, Monica is volunteering as Chair on the College Art Association’s Museum Committee.
Isabella St. John Ellis(’20) completed a Garden Design Diploma in 2023 at the Inchbald School of Design and recently began a new position as Graduate Landscape Designer at Urquhart & Hunt (Landscape Design and Ecological Restoration - UK).
After working as the Collections Intern at the Griffin Museum of Photography (Mass.) and as the Operations and Talent Associate and Administrative Assistant at Celsius Therapeutics (Mass.), a precision medicine company, Emily Maar(’20) recently began a new position as Office Manager at Demiurge Studios (Mass.), an independent games studio.
After working for two years as a kindergarten and first grade teacher, Rose White(’20) is in a new position as Associate Art Teacher at Mary McDowell Friends School (NYC).
Eve Kreshtool(’22) started a new job as Gallery Assistant at Sperone Westwater (NYC).
