Office of Academic Advising

The Office of Academic Advising supports and supplements Skidmore's faculty-based academic advising model. We help students understand their academic degree requirements, timeline to graduation, and the College’s academic policies and procedures.

We guide students toward graduation while making the most of their educational experience. Our academic advisors are committed to fostering strong academic standards while offering academic support and guidance to all students.

The Office also implements the administrative processes surrounding Personal/Medical Leaves of Absence on behalf of the Commitee on Academic Standing.

Advisors are also involved in many of the faculty's academic processes and committees and offer assistance in developing and implementing academic policies, curricular goals, and advising resources.

Exploremore: Majors & Minors

Spring 2027:  February 15 - 24

For rising juniors in the Class of 2029, Declaration of Major forms
are due Friday, February 26th.

Exploremore: Majors and Minors is a two-week advising event that takes place each spring devoted to helping first-year students and sophomores explore potential majors and minors. Sessions are designed to help students learn about pathways within majors/minors, special opportunities for engagement (collaborative research, independent studies, credit-bearing internships), and potential post-Skidmore trajectories. Don’t miss this opportunity to talk to professors and upper-class students about what it means to major/minor in a specific discipline and how to make the most of your academic career.

Degree Requirements

Students can access their Degree Audit in the Student System at any time to view their individualized, master checklist of academic degree requirements needed to gradaute. Although students are responsible for understanding their degree requirements and making informed course selections, faculty advisors and advisors from the Office of Academic Advising are both available to provide information and guidance at every step.
