Vision

Our motto, Creative Thought Matters, is an inherently inclusive and future-proof philosophy that frees students to learn without boundaries now, and for the rest of their lives. Because when you learn differently, you lead differently – not just in the arts, but in science, business, economics, the humanities, and every other endeavor.

Leadership

"There are three things you should expect of a great college. First, a world-class, transformative education that trains your mind for lifelong learning. Second, unforgettable experiences – athletics, arts, adventures. Third, practical preparation for life after college. These are our promises to you, because our success is measured by yours."
– President Marc C. Conner

History

Skidmore College – originally the Young Women's Industrial Club – was founded by Lucy Skidmore Scribner in 1903 for "the cultivation of knowledge and arts as (they) may promote well-being, physical, mental, spiritual, and ability to become self-supporting." More than a century later, we have quite the story to tell.
