Yaddo, the nation’s preeminent artists’ retreat, is proud of its

Recently designated a National Historic Landmark, Yaddo was
founded in 1900 by the financier Spencer Trask and his poet
wife, Katrina. Its mission is to offer creative artists the rare gift
of a supportive environment with uninterrupted time to think,
experiment, and create. Over the years, Yaddo has welcomed
more than 6,000 artists working in film, literature, musical
composition, the visual arts, and performance art. While most
of the estate is dedicated to the artists’ residency program, the
historic Yaddo Gardens are open free to the public.
