You want to send your tape signals over the headphones to
your performers in the next room (room 210 in Filene) so that they can play
in sync with some previous tracks they've recorded. HOW TO DO THIS:
patch Aux Bus S1 out (red) into Amp Inputs "HP"
(blue) (top Aux is LEFT ear of headphones) |
FOLLOW THE OTHER STEPS LISTED BELOW THIS
PHOTO |
- Patch: Aux 1 out on main patch bay -> (into) HP input
(L)
- On the Mixer: Bring up the tape track using the tape return
knob for the track you need (knob 1 for track 1) The tape return knobs are
just above the sliding "faders" on the mixer. Tape return knob 1
is just above fader 1 on the mixing board (the "board").
- Now press the "AUX" button on the mixer and
repeat step 2 above, namely: turn up that same tape return knob again. I know
this seems redundant, but this time you are adding the tape signal to the
AUX BUS, which you have already patched into the headphones AMP.
- Plug in headphones in room 210 and turn up the volum on
the box slowly to about 50%
- WARNING! NEVER allow your performers to wear their headphones
over their ears until AFTER you have already established a signal into the
phones. **If you make a mistake, you could damage the ears of your performers.
ALWAYS BE CAUTIOUS WHEN HOOKING UP A HEADPHONES FEED....TO AVOID EAR DAMAGE
TO YOURSELF AND YOUR PERFORMERS !
If you'd like to hear what you're sending down the headphones
lines plug into the headphones box located under the right side of the mixer
(see photo below)
The "MONO" switch sends a mono signal (only using Aux1 out into HP
amp in L) to both ears, to simulate stereo. This makes lots of performers happy...
and they don't usually notice it's "twin mono" rather than a true
stereo headphones mix. You can also send a different mix into the other ears
of the performers by using Aux bus 2 -> HP Amp in R following pretty much
the same procedure as you used for the first headphones mix feed.
